Western Theatre Company Theatre at Western Colorado University offers students individualized theatrical instruction, and various production opportunities in state-of-the-art facilities, surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape.
The student-run Western Theatre Company provides students the opportunity to work as actors, directors, playwrights, producers, designers, technicians and stage managers during the company’s four show main stage season. The group also supplies entertainment to the Gunnison community with its annual 24-Hour Play Festival, the WTC Improv Troupe, student-directed One Act Play series, and a host of other events.
In addition to showcasing their talent throughout the Gunnison Valley, the Western Theatre Company participates in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival every year.
Education in Theatre and the performing arts offers training in many skills and can lead to as many different careers, directly and indirectly related to theatre.
Western Theatre Company is the theatre arts co-curricular at Western Colorado University. It is comprised of student majors and minors in Communication Arts: Theatre along with many students studying the fields of science, business and the other areas of arts & humanities
Western Theatre Company works closely with film (Mountaineer Media) and broadcasting (KWSB campus radio).
